Hi again. Time for the latest issue of the Forge World Newsletter.

In the last issue of our newsletter I talked a little about Forge World?s forthcoming range of Elysian Drop Troops, but didn?t show any photos, adding to the rumours flying around the forums. (How naughty of us!) As we only started the Elysian project late in 2004, our proposed release schedule starting early in the new year seemed impossible to some of you out there, (and us too at some points along the way!), but I am very, very happy to be able to announce the completion of our first sets of Elysian Drop Troops. forgeworld.co.uk/elys1chutes.htm forgeworld.co.uk/elys1.htm
These models are truly amazing. Each Elysian is made up of separate legs, torso, head, arms and equipment, with over 100 individual pieces in the 10 man squad. Trust me, there?s a heck of a lot of different poses you can make here!
What our designers, Simon Egan and Will Hayes, have tried to do throughout the whole project is to make the Elysians ?real?. We even went to the lengths of taking photos of some of our guys running around the car park so we could see what sort of poses we would like to be able to make. Special attention was given to the way the harness straps lay across the bodies of the Elysians, and how that affected the folds of cloth in their jump suits.
The ten man squad consists of a sergeant armed with a lasgun incorporating an auxiliary grenade launcher, a trooper equipped with a vox-caster, one armed with a grenade launcher, another with a demolition charge and six other ?basic? troopers armed with those lovely new bullpup lasguns.
Of course one of the most distinctive features of the Elysian Drop troops is their grav-chutes. These are one use devices that can be jettisoned after landing and are used by certain elite Imperial Guard infantry for massed aerial assaults. The Elysians use the grav-chute to attack an enemy from above, literally raining down onto unexpected areas of the battlefield, causing havoc and inflicting heavy casualties upon their foe within moments of landing. Reinforcements can then sweep in after the LZ has been secured and deploy from Valkyrie Assault Carriers.
These are of course only the first Elysian units in what promises to be a comprehensive range that Forge World will be releasing over the next few months. We are working on at least one other ?normal? squad, a Command Squad, several Heavy Weapons Squads, Veteran Squad, Special Weapons Squads, (the long barrelled bipod equipped versions of these new lasguns just look marvellous!) and several different packs of accessories including LZ beacons and drop canisters.
So when are they going to be sent out? We?ll start shipping orders out from Monday February 28th in the same order that we receive them, first come first served you could say. Both Elysian Drop Troop squads and the Grav-chute pack are available to pre-order online at forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/ELYSIAN_DROP_TROOPS.html and over the phone on our mail order lines right now.

As of today, Forge World is able to start work on any reservations you guys want to make for Games Day Atlanta and Games Day Los Angeles. Either give one of our guys a call on the phone or drop us an email titled ?Games Day Atlanta Reservation? or ?Games Day Los Angeles Reservation? to forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk with your name and the list of what you want us to pack up especially for you.

aber jetzt eine frage, ist das ein neues regiment der imperialen truppen ?
bitte um aufklärung !!

sind ein teil der imperial guard, spezialisiert auf schnelle angriffe mit den grav chutes. aber ob schon mal listen von offizieller seite veröffentlicht worden sind, da bin ich überfragt.

Elysian Drop Troopers

The Elysians are heavy infantry by design, and have proven their skills in countless battles. They are, in many respects, the Codex issue Drop-troop army. Though each regiment varies slightly, with some favouring Grenadiers while others simply employ vast amounts of heavy infantry, the result is invariably the same; a sudden, rapid assault at key points. The Elysians overrun the enemy with precision attacks, securing the objective. If working in tandem with ground-based regiments, they will often wait until the enemy has committed their strengths before deploying in force. If ever there was a finer Drop-Troop army, then I have yet to find them.
Elysians have taken part in countless major engagements, and it is generally the case that Victory Worlds who provide Drop Troop regiments were originally won by Elysian forces.

A brief History of the Elysian Drop Troops

The Elysians come from a verdant world some thirty light years from Armageddon, towards the galactic hub. The Elysia system and surrounding wilderness space is notorious for its pirates, as a main trade route through the sector passes through Elysia, and the system's many swirling gas clouds and hundreds of asteroid fields provide perfect ambush sites. Through combating this ever-present threat, the Elysians are therefore well trained in ship-to-ship boarding actions, and fighting in concert with orbital support when attacking isolated pirate bases.

The Elysian Drop Troops are amongst the best rapid response troops that the Imperial Guard has to offer. Not only do they have some of the best and most well cared for equipment and a high proportion of Storm Troopers within their ranks, but they have perfected the tactic of attacking by grav chute and the Valkyrie Airborne Assault Carrier. It is common for the elite soldiers of Elysia to appear from the skies en masse above their objective, raining onto the battlefield and sowing devastation and confusion throughout the enemy lines before they have even landed.

However, the Elysian Drop Troops' combat doctrine does not afford them such luxuries as the Leman Russ Battle Tanks or even the ubiquitous Chimera troop transports. Nothing bulkier than the lighweight Sentinel can be deployed by grav-chute. As a result, Elysian Drop Troops specialize in ambushes and attaining and holding objectives, and cannot hold their ground in a protracted firefight for long. In large-scale conflicts, this dictates a hit-and-run style of warfare whereby the Elysians achieve their goal and then quickly disappear. In smaller engagements the Elysians are experienced and well-equipped enough to operate for long periods of time without fresh supplies.

ja, wollte eigentlich die links splitten, aber die seite war gestern so verdammt langsam :(...

10 elysianer mit grav chutes kosten 40 pfund, ohne kosten sie 35 pfund. die grav chutes alleine, auch 10 stück, kosten 9 pfund. also würde man sich 4 pfund sparen, wenn man das set um 40 nimmt.

weiters wollen sie noch folgendes, die nächste zeit veröffentlichen:

ja, heißt 40k in 40 mins (400pkt).
wobei man die burschen, oder besser gesagt bits, ja nicht zwangsläufig für elysianer einsetzen muß. die bits ermöglichen einen haufen von unterschiedlichen posen und noch viel mehr was man in einer imperialen aufstellung verheizen könnte. außerdem, vielleicht planen sie ja zusätzlich neue listen zu veröffentlichen, mit denen es möglich ist, kleinere truppen elysianer in eine gewöhnliche armylist einzubauen. mal abwarten was noch so kommt.

ja, auch nicht ganz meines, mir persönlich gefallen die helme auch nicht. aber der rest ist sehr fein.
