    *Core
    Men at Arms
    Archers
    Squires
    Knights Errant

    *Special
    Knights of the Realm
    Penitant foot knights
    Questing Knight upgrade for KotR

    *Rare
    0-1Grail Knights
    Grail Monks

    *Siege
    Trebuchet

And with the final triumph of Chaos all life will decay into a seething mass of lost and screaming
souls, eternally enduring the forms thrust upon them by the uncaring gods of Chaos.

Mortals despair, the Realm of Chaos has begun.

Insider Info on the New Bretonnian Army Book!
May 17 2002 at 5:15 PM The Village Idiot (no login)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just had a very long telephone conversation with an old friend of mine who used to game with a relative of Alesio Cavatore on every odd Thursday. He has informed me that he has read the pre-release army book in draft form, which was smuggled out of Glen Burnie Maryland's home office during a recent inventory period inside one of the new model "Squiggoths".

    My friend has informed me of the following insider information;

The Bret. Army composition is as the follows:

    1. All commoner infantry may emplace "Abatis" at the start of a battle. These are logs driven into the ground at a 45 degree angle, and then sharpened into points. (POINTY STICKS!!! HURRAY!!!!) These stakes will cost 2 points per model in the front rank. Any infantry unit which charges a unit behind stakes will be attacked by a WS 3, STR 3 attack, before he can strike at the defenders. Casualties are not allowed to attack (No one will "step forward" to take his place.) Then combat is carried out as usual but the Bretonnians get a +1 combat resolution (Not defended obstacle). If cavalry charges the cavalry loses the attack of the mount.

    Core troops are;
Peasants, Do not cause panic when fleeing, 2 attacks at WS 2 Str 3, no armor, LD 6.
Men at Arms - now with options for halberds, hand weapon, pikes (Cannot use abatis with pikes)
Archers (No wedge formation)can use crossbows
Squires- Kennel masters may have hounds.
    Knights Errant
Battle Cows (Peasants ride them into battle)

    *Special
    Knights of the Realm
    Foot knights (stubborn)
0-1 Forresters, Champion may have hounds.

    *Rare
0-1 Questing Knight uprgade from KOR
    0-1 Grail Knights
0-1 Franciscan Monks (Taken vow of poverty, no armor) They are immune to psychology, and are unbreakable. If you take a unit of monks, then you must take a unit of peasants of equal or greater size.
0-1 Killer Rabbits - Immune to psychology, frenzied, stubborn, strikes first in combat. 10 attacks at WS 6 STR 6 no armor saves. Cannot pursue if enemy "Runs away".

    *Siege
    Trebuchet
    Large Wooden Rabbit

Of course, some or none of this may be true...perhaps we should wait for the army book to actually be released?

All I want in the new AB is some Peasants,
    and some better commoner weaponry,
    and "Tim the Enchanter"
and a nice piece of cheddar.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Bret. Army composition is as the following:

    >Both M@A and bowmen may have planted stakes as an upgrade-a bonus in CC if they dont move
-->nice idea and makes these lads more of a defensive tool

    *Core

    Men at Arms---->Plastic M@A!!!I wish..

Archers---->no mention of the arrowhead but never the less, they are ok in big units
Squires- Kennel masters may have hounds---->nice idea to separate the Brets from the Emps, skirmishers & fast cav. in exchange for 'royal' cavalry
Knights Errant--->when it comes to knights, it's not a huge loss, we are left with crappy knights for core but they serve as cheap steel walls these days with the capability of being able to wound a dragon!

    *Special
1+Knights of the Realm(even if scenarios forbids special units)-also may have 2 units as one choice.---> good idea and makes sense to see these guys are less common than an errant. The 2 for the price of one fixes the lack of knights bug.In a less than 2000pt game, you can have 6 units of KotR or 3KotR & 3QK units.
Penitant foot knights---->still a mystery about their background and their purpose but nevertheless, we have foot knights!
Questing Knight upgrade for KotR-No. of Questing Knights must not exceed No. of KotR units--->I was worried when this was KotR's upgrade but it makes sense now.
0-1Forresters--->no big loss there!I heard that the points are increased however......

    *Rare
0-1Grail Knights--->this entity is abit obvious
Grail Monks--->this new unit may be ok...

*Siege-->this is a special entity for Bretonnians only.I thing you can have as many siege weapons as there are rare troops(1 for < 2000pts)
    Trebuchet

I visited my uncle yesterday, who is a old friend of the father of the Tennis-teacher from Alessio Cavatore.
He told me really interesting things about the new AB, what will be realesed next month:

    *core
    M@A
bowmen (may have boltthrowers @ 1 Point extra)
    squires (may have x-bows)
    Knights of the Realm
Errants (are stuborn when a damsel is in the lance)
    Peasants

    *special
Questingknights (may have plate armor and great swords)
    food knights (immune to psychologie)
    Ghostknights
    Elite-Peasants
    Dog Handlers

    *seldom
    o-8 Grailgnights
    warior-damsels
    0-2 Beastmaster

    *siege
    trebuchet
    Onagar
    Tunnel-teams
    Bombard

    naja.... ;)
