Sodele, hier mal ein paar Eindrücke vom Codex, wenn auch aus zweiter Hand...

I took part in the Epitome of Evil tour yesterday here in VA, and it was pretty cool. My allied force came away with a draw, seeing as how we lascannoned Nightbringer into stardust, but the only Monolith died because it hit itself with its own particle whip! But more importantly, GW had a copy of the Chaos codex on hand, which some people merely flipped through, while a couple actually read the entire book, cover to cover. Given how complex this thing is, that's really the only way to become familiar with the current incarnation of Chaos. Unfortunately, I didn't read the entire thing, but I do remember a few things. On ward!
Overall: Codex:Chaos is very impressive, very solid. Everything related to the gaming aspects of the Chaos codex takes up a huge portion of the book, but there is a little fluff thrown in (definitely more than last time around!). The remaining room is taken up by the absolutely stunning artwork, which capture the many facets of Chaos, from dead 'ard guys with huge guns, to raptors killing guardsmen using their feet, to the amazing special character art (I just pray the models look just a little bit like the art!), to that freaky, androgynous Slaanesh guy with one breast *shudder*. But again, the book is very complicated, with multiple sets of special rules (depending on god, legion, etc.) and some rules that were hard to find right off the bat. Then again, complexity is a good thing in my book, 'cause you know you're not being short-changed with this codex.
Wargear: Huge! A full three-coloumned page of nasty choices! Followed by something like five pages of rules explaining what each one does! Naturally, I only remember one item from said five pages, but it should give you an idea of what Chaos has access to. Without further ado, I give you - the Kai Gun, an ancient, very hefty bolter that fires crazy nasty ammunition. It's a two-handed weapon like so: Range 24", S 6, AP 3, Assault 2. Finally, a gun worth giving a character! Eat that, Loyalist scum! There are probably a hundred times this, but my mind was severely boggled.
HQ: 0-1 Chaos Lord / Daemon Prince - I didn't see anything sepcial in the listing, sorry. One stat line.
1+ (might not be compulsory) Lieutenant
0-1 Greater Daemon - I assume they remain like in WD
Elites: 0-1 Obliterators - cost seemed to be fairly the same, around 60 points, though you can only have 1-3 in a squad (I think)
- I didn't see anything about splitting the squad up, and it didn't look like a squad can morph multiples of the same weapon (but I'm not sure, so don't quote me)
- now have "daemonic aura," which I assume is a 5+ inv. save.
Possessed - you do indeed buy their powers, but I don't remember any specifics
Chosen - 10 available for every 1000 points. Different stat line and cost depending on armor taken.
- different "weapon options" if they have a god-specific Mark (these were probably buried in each gods' section later, but I couldn't find them)
- if in power armor, every third model can be armed with a special/heavy weapon! That's 6 lascannons (at +15 points each) in an 18 man squad! Ha!
- can take a special Chaos Icon, though I couldn't find what it does
Troops: Daemons - I assume they're the same as in WD. Same for nurglings.
Chaos Space Marines - 5-20 in a squad, at 14 points each
- I think they can still only have 1 special and 1 heavy weapon per squad, no matter the size
- can be upgraded to Berzerkers, Noise Marines, 1000 Sons, or Plague Marines by giving them all the right marks, at ehich point they have different weapon options (listed somewhere later). They become Elites choices (or Heavy Support choices for Noise Marines) if you upgrade them.
Fast Attack: 0-1 Raptors - 26 points each (down from 30).
- fewer rules, great picture.
Bikers - 35 points each (down from 40)
- have "steel steads" rule, which went into great depth about +1 T, or something (possibly to do with Instant Death?)
Daemons - like in WD, with fleshhounds, furies and screamers
Heavy Support: Landraider - pretty much the same
Predator - yep
Havocs - now can have four heavy weapons per squad
Defiler - To confirm some stats: WS 2, BS 4, S 8, FA 12, SA 12, RA 10
- I saw no mention of the battlecannon being move or fire (not that it might not be there), but it can fire indirectly for +25 points
- It has twin-linked heavy flamers, so doubles all hits under the template
- didn't look like it could destroy terrain or fix Chaos vehicles (its listing was fairly short)
Dreadnought - still there, but I didn't see anything special (I didn't check! Sorry!)
Characters: Fabius Bile - he's still there, with an old picture
Abaddon - now costs 255 or 256 (up from 240), looked to have a one or two more rules/wargear
Kharne - now 180 (down from 185), stats: WS 5, BS 4, S 4, T 4, I 4(5?), A 5, W 4?, Ld 10?, Sv 3+?
Typhus (Nurgle) - great picture, with big, bony pipes coming out of back. Awesome.
- is in Terminator armor, has some nasty rules, 5 toughness
Lucius (Slaanesh) - picture had him with a snakey head and big Slaanesh sword (like EC champ)
Ahriman - I only saw that he was still there (besides that, who knows?)
Marks: Khorne - +5 (10 for characters?) points, gives them Blood Frenzy, which is +1 A, you have to move towards the enemy, and something else (sorry!)
Slaanesh - +5 (10 for characters?) points, gives them Warp Scream ability, and something else (sorry again!)
Nurgle - +5 (10 for characters?) points, gives them Daemonic Resilience, which I couldn't find anywhere. Probably is +1 T (like Typhus has "T 4(5)").
Tzeentch - I have no idea. There were different sections for characters, 1000 sons, etc. and it all seemed very complex. But that's Tzeentch for you.
Of course this is only the tip of the very dark, foreboding iceberg, and I hope that I was able to shed some light on the subject. While this is from the codex originally, it's all passed through my brain first, which was severely addled by the amount of cool stuff in the book (and that GW guy who was suspicious that I knew so much about the codex without having seen it! it's all you guys' fault!). All in all, Codex:Chaos is money in the bank; a bank full of money.
