
What to Expect: The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming! Well just one Russian, Timur Bekmambetov, but he is still going to take America by storm. Most people on this side of the Atlantic really do not yet know about Bekmambetov, "The John Woo of the Far Eastern Europe," but they soon will. He first made headlines with his internationally acclaimed Night Watch franchise, which enjoyed huge success overseas and even won quite a few fans here in America. Now he is going to bring his octane style to the US in the film Wanted which is an adaptation of the graphic novel by Mark Millar of the same name. This pairing is a match made in heaven which will likely prove successful at the box office.
Wanted tells the tale of one apathetic nobody's transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. In 2008, the world will be introduced to a hero for a new generation: Wesley Gibson. 25-year-old Wes was the most disaffected, cube-dwelling drone the planet had ever known. His boss chewed him out hourly, his girlfriend ignored him routinely and his life plodded on interminably. Everyone was certain this disengaged slacker would amount to nothing. There was little else for Wes to do but wile away the days and die in his slow, clock-punching rut. Until he met a woman named Fox.
