Necron Rumor Compilation
Fluff
- The Necrons were a race of technically hyper advanced xenophobes.
They hated the Old Ones, who were busy creating planets and races all
across the universe. The Necrons didn't want this; they wanted to
rule the galaxy for themselves. However, they couldn't do much
against the Old Ones because as a race they were very disorganized as
a race, with lots of in-fighting amongst themselves. So, the C'Tan,
who were the third race around that time, struck a deal with them;
the Necrons would provide the C'Tan with equipment and weapons and
other technology and the C'Tan would lead the Necrons and give them
the organization and stability they needed. Finally, in an effort to
outlive the Old Ones, the Necrons went into hibernation for X
millions of years hoping to claim the galaxy for themselves when they
awoke. Unfortunately, they have awoken to find not one race, but
thousands, all sharing the galaxy what they believe is theirs. So,
the Necrons have taken it upon themselves to first study the races
for their weaknesses and then remove the other races from the galaxy
and finally claim what is theirs.
- The Machine god on Mars IS one of the C'Tan.
- There are actually four C'Tan, but we will only see two of them.
One is Nightbringer and the other is the Trickster. They may release
the other three at some point. So we have Nightbringer (the god most
associated with Death), Outsider (whom the other C'Tan gods fear),
Trickster (who supposedly has done dealings with or is manipulating
the Tau) and the un-named C'Tan (The supposed Machine god on Mars).
Another thing is that every great achievement of mankind (Great
Crusade et al.) had a C'Tan involved behind it.
- They are not THE C'Tan. They are the GODS of the C'Tan that have
survived. All the actual C'Tan are dead.
Special Rules
- Gauss Weapons will only work when you stand still.
- "We'll Be Back" Rule is still the same.
- Phase out Rule is still the same.
- You are required to take two full Troop selections regardless of
mission.
- Phase Weapons: they are like Power weapons in HTH, but also go
through Invulnerable Saves as well. (Refer to Callidus Assassin's
Weapon)
Special Characters
C'Tan Gods:
- Monstrous creature.
- No saves (including inv.) allowed.
- It would be unlikely that they could be destroyed outright but that
there were methods for 'containing them'.
- Can be fielded without opposing player's permission.
- Can only be fielded with 3000+ points army.
The Two C'Tan gods that GW has ready to put out.
Nightbringer: 360 points
S10 T8 Ld10 4+inv? or 2+inv
- Nightbringer is armed with 'Gaze of Death' that acts like a
lascannon shot.
- For HTH instead of using him to fight in combat your other option
is to place an ordinance template over him and every model touching
him suffers a wound on a 4+.
- He can also create a small tornado which forces enemies within 12"
to retreat 2D6" away from him.
The Trickster: 300 points (HQ Choice)
S9 T8 Ld10 4+inv? or 2+inv
HQ Units
Necron Lord: 100 points
WS 4 BS 4 S 5 T 5 W 3 I 4 A 3 Ld 10 Sv 3+
- Supposedly there are 6 different types of Lords following a caste
system, which leads us to believe that different types of Lords will
be able to different types of things. (Think of the different types
of Vampire Counts in WFB.)
- Same as Chapter Approved with the Staff of Light & more Wargear
options.
(Ex. upgrade Power Weapon to Phase Weapon, etc.)
- "We'll Back Rule" regardless of any like troop around.
Flying Necron Lord
(Possibly a Wargear upgrade or from one of the 6 castes.)
WS 4 BS 4 S 5 T 5 W 3 I 4 A 3 Ld 10 Sv 3+
- Has an Orb that acts as a Staff of Light and moves like a Necron
Destroyer.
- "We'll Be Back" Rule regardless of any like troop around.
Elite Units
Immortals: 28 points
Squad Size: 5-10
WS 4 BS 4 S 4 T 5 W 1 I 2 A 1 Ld 10 Sv 3+
Weapons: Gauss Blaster: 24" R S5 AP4 Assault 2
-"We'll Be Back" Rule.
Flayed Ones
- Are infiltrators
- Cause Fear (Whatever that is?)
Pariahs: 35-45(?) points/ 0-1 choice only!
Squad Size: 5-10
WS BS S 5 T 5 A W Ld 10 Sv 3+
- Weapon: Is a staff that is a Gauss Blaster and a Phase Weapon.
- Are immune to psychic powers
- Any enemy units within 12" have leadership reduced to 7
Troops
Necron Warriors: 18 points
Squad Size: 5-10
WS 4 BS 4 S 4 T 4 W 1 I 2 A 1 Ld 10 Sv 3+
Gauss Flayer: 24" R S4 AP5 Rapid Fire
- "We'll Be Back" Rule
Fast Attack
Necron Destroyers: 50 points
Squad Size: 3-5
WS 4 BS 4 S 4 T 4(5) W 1 I 2 A 1 Ld 10 Sv 3+
Gauss Cannon: 36" R S6 AP4 Heavy 3
Scarabs: 6 points
Squad size: 5-10
WS 4 BS - S 3 T 3 W 3 I 2 A 1 Ld 10 Sv 4+
- Scarabs come on large bases and have a disruption field that allows
them to attack vehicles and slowly reduce their armor value. Hence
the more scarabs on a vehicle the lower the armor value the vehicle
becomes.
- They don't blow up any more.
Wraiths: 41 points
Squad Size: 1-3
WS BS S 6 T A 3 W I Ld 10 Sv 3+ Inv
- Have the phase shifter technology allowing them to pass through
difficult and impassable terrain with no difficulty.
- Move 9" and Assault 9"
Heavy
Monolith: 235 points
Armor: F-14 S-14 R-14
- You get a certain amount of energy or actions in a turn and it is
up to the necron player as to what he uses it on, movement, firing,
teleporting, etc.
- Has a 6 shot Ion Cannon and a super gun with something like 10
strength 2 AP and 36" range Ordnance Template.
- It can teleport nearby units towards itself making it a rather
unique transport vehicle of sorts. The monolith acts as a point from
which reserves can enter and can transport up to 18" from it.
- If the Monolith is destroyed all units in Reserve are lost.
- Has "Living Metal" special rule that means chainfists, monstrous
creatures or multi-meltas don't get extra penetration dice.
- It also isn't destroyed if immobilized like normal skimmers, it
instead drifts the ground and can't move.
Heavy Destroyers: (No one has any idea of this one)
- One would presume that it is a Destroyer with either the Heavy
Gauss Cannon option or a different Gauss weapon altogether.
Tomb Spider: 55 points
- The tomb spider is an unarmed vehicle that can repair units at 12 "
by expanding the "We'll Be Back" from the normal 6" to 12" (it's like
a second chance for auto repair troops.) and creates scarabs.
