  • Hi Michael :)

Nice to hear from you and I am sure you will get the ACW going.

I have talked a little to the players here and we are excited about the idea. So hopefully soon we can stat talking about when.

    Nick

p.s I have sent you a private message as well.
  • Hello and a belated welcome. (I'm not such an active forum user :))

I'ts good that you found the way over here. Well as I wrote to you ba email Cypher and me are busy working to establish an ACW group within the club - we had a game yesterday and managed to recruit two more players so things look good at the moment.
I hope that we can do some historical gaming when we manage to arrange a meeting and that we might be able to establish a link between the historical players in the Czech republic and the ones you mentioned in Poland and Hungeria.

    Best, Michael
  • Great to hear that Warmaster is played in Prague. And I too think that it's good - probably one of the three best game systems GW has produced imho.

I heard of Warmaster Ancients (it's all the people in the GW forums talk about at the moment - besides Araby coming soon ;) ), but a man can only ride one horse at a time (well, ok, maybe we tabletoppers ride two or three horses ... :D).

Here around Vienna we have a hard core of around ten players playing regularly. With the players playing Warmaster some times I guess we reach 16. Maybe Prague and Vienna should unite their Warmaster armies :D? (Prague is such an inspiring City - perfectly suited for a Tabletop-Tournament I'd say! ;))

But until then - on Sunday, September 11th we make a Warmaster tournament in Vienna Kaiserstrasse. It's called "Line of Battle". If any of your Warmaster players would be interested - it's no problem to do the tournament in English (WM players are used to english - only the basic rulebook was translated in german...). For one or two czech players I could even organize a private place to sleep in...

It's a pity that at the moment no EuroGT is planned in Austria. That would have been a perfect event to meet ... (the next will be held in Great Britain in March 2006).

    Greetings,
    Gerald
  • WARLOCK: OK I have your forum saved. We will see if we can come and play in Carinthia sometime :)

Your English is fine by the way :)

spiritusX Maybe there is a good Warmaster scene in Southern Poland but I do not know about it. The Polish players that come here play WFB and WH40K. I will ask them about this.

Here in Prague Warmaster is popular but not as popular as WFB and WH40K. In the photographs in have mentioned before there are maybe 50 to 80 WH40K players. There was also a Warmaster competion and that had maybe 10 players :(

It is a shame I think as I think that Warmaster is a very good system. Do you know that there is now a warmaster for fighting historical Ancient battles? I looks good also.
  • You said you had contact with South-Polish players? Actually, that interests me a lot, because I heard in Poland there is a vivid Warmaster-Scene (and Warmaster is my favourite tabletop). Do you know Warmaster players around your area?

    Greetings,
    Gerald
  • No, actually no one (who i know) in Carinthia plays historical's, only some guys playing Flames of War.

We are primary playing Warhammer Fantasy and 40k, and in our club (WCS - Wargamers Club Steckenpferd (->The Name of our store)) some guys (including me) play Mortheim, Gothic, Epic and Bloodbowl.

At the store we only play the two main systems, because GW isn't supporting the sidegames in Carinthia, and so the store would have to order by Mailorder, and wouldn't have any profit. If you want to talk to our Carinthian Community, this is our forum: ->LINK, i hope the admins here allow this litte 'ad ;)

PS: Sorry about my bad english, it's only a "C" in school :( ;)
  • Warlock: Sorry about the multiple posts problem. it is not usually a problem to do this on similar forums!

I was a little confused by you use of Czech, I hadn't realised it had caused an error :)

Hopefully we will come to Carintia as well :) Do you also play historical battles there?

Der Elf Your English is fine and certainly a lot better than my German :D

We have our monthly meeting at the end of July so we will see what can be done then about organising a trip :)

Athelstan Thanks for the link. The books look interesting I will have to get some :)

I agree about Caedfael but I like the series of books because they are all set in my home area. Shrewsbury, the main city in the books, is 30 km from where my my family lives.

It sounds like you have done more than me about the list. It should be good & also you will have two armies for the price of one :)

    Warlock: Are you Czech?

No, why? i am Carinthian. I've only copied the Error Message of the Homepage, where it was written in engish and czech (hope thats the right word for the language).
  • Hello Hwiccee,

nice to hear from Warhammergamers out of Austria.

I'm sure that most users in the Festung will understand your English. But this is the same like Athelstan had said.

My English isn't as well as their English, but I think i can communicate with you easily. :D Also when I make some grammatical mistakes.

Athelstan and Turin said the most important, that in Vienna there exist 2 big clubs, which use to organize monthly tournaments.

If you and your club decides to come to Vienna to play some games, I'll be there. I'm interested in outlandish clubs and their style to play, maybe not other as our style. I hope your club is coming as soon as your team is ready.

    cheers Paul
  • Hwiccee, there is an edit Button on the right top of every post, marked with "ändern". Please use this little one, and dont post three Posts in Row, thank you.

PS: if your're comming to Austria some day, tell us here, i think many guys in Carinthia also want to meet you, we are some sort of Mekka in Austria for Tabletop (quote of "The sHoGuN").

@ Athel: Danke werd ich machen, und das oben geschriebene gilt glaub ich auch für Ordensmeister oder ;) :D Dachte mir nur ich sags ihm bevors einer von euch macht.

    BTW, hi from Carinthia!

  • yes i know caedfael - its from ellis peters, isn'T it? i have some books from caedfael the monk. they are pretty ok, but for my taste to less blood and thrill :D

for paul harding - looks here: amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/deta…v=glance&s=books&n=507846

his real name is paul doherty, paul harding is a synonym.

for my army list i used all my army books and rule book of warhammer fantasy. i have the warhammer historic book, also shieldwall. but the points and rules and dates are not the same like i need for fantasy. but i could take out some nice ideas. :))

In Vienna we have 2 Clubs (in the not that distant future it's going to be just 1, because all of us think, it's the more productive way) with our own location (and independent from any shops). We meet each other on a quite regular basis (at about 4 times a week), and each month we have a tournament (one month 40K, the other one fantasy) and are running a Blood Bowl League. We'd welcome you and your friends to come along some time.

    Original von T?rin Túrambar
Well, I'm going to discuss this matter with some of us, 'cause if we are coming, then in a group, and I'm sure, there will be some people to come.

It is the same from my side. I will ahve to talk about this with my group when we next meet :)

Original von T?rin TúrambarWell... One is from your own Island (and one of the hardest idioms, I've heard), and the other one is quite from the central of Europe, so international enough (for a british :D)..

    :D

Most of us should at least understand the basics in english, so it shouldbe no great problem.

That is good news because my Welsh and Czech are not very good really :)
  • Original von Athelstana king in a period of history in england, which i be very interested in. i love the time of the viking-raids and the occupation of the "ravebanner"-vikings :D

Have you heard of Hwiccee? It is the old Anglo Saxon kingdom that I come from. It was part of Mercia by the time of Athelstan :) Before this it was an independant kingdom of its own.

I too am interested in this period but more so the earlier period when Mercia rules Britain - Offa and Penda are my heroes :)

Original von Athelstani'm working of an unofficial armylist of vikings for warhammer fantasy (inclusive background, magicsystems, ...)

Have you tried using the Warhammer Ancient Battles Viking list and adding magic, etc to that? Just an idea.

I have done a little of the same idea but for 'Sub Roman British' - this is Arthurian British in normal language :)

Original von Athelstanps: athelstan is also the name of a protagonist of criminal books, which plays in the old london of the 13th century. written by paul harding!!! :D

I have not heard of this before. Have you heard of Caedfael? He is a detective/monk in 12th century Britain. The books are very good. It sounds like this Athelstan is the same idea - is he a 'detective'?

Do you have a similar event in Austria? Maybe in Wien?

It seems to me that it would be a good idea if maybe we come to a similar event to this in Austria and maybe some Austrians could come to Ogr Cubb sometime :)

Unfortunately these languages are Welsh and Czech and so not really too international
