jub das war aber auch schon mal in einem wd zu lesen das sie titelvorschläge suchen um das auch im deutschen raum durchzuziehen....wie ich finde eigentlich keine schlechte idee.....steigt dann ja auch die qualität der beiträge und vor allen dingen der bilder....etc...wenn ich da an das bfg magazin denke...uargh...bestenfalls bilder aus dem web oder digicam....meist schlechter druck und naja....

naja, mich würde das auch nicht so wirklich treffen obwohl das argument natürlich sehr gut ist und stimmt, dass man ja nicht alles spielt...normalerweise ich habe einmal alles gespielt war gerade von GW aktuell war aber die zeiten sind vorbei.
naja und die qualität ist zeitweise echt mies, inhalt oft dürftig...da waren manche Irinsil-Ausgaben besser..:)

Obwohl, ich kauf ma des Zeugs sowieso net, also wieder wurscht.

Naja, ich schätze, das da der Tod des WarMag-Editors Steve Hambrook Anlass ist.

Nach dem was ich gehört habe, soll das WarMag noch bis No 21 weitergehen und dann in das Fanatic-Magazin eingegliedert werden.

Ich bin ein wenig skeptisch, denn a) interessieren mich die anderen Hobbi-Gebiete eher wenig und b) ist dann halt der Fokus der Herausgeber nicht nur auf WM, d.h. ich bezweifle, ob dann auch noch so gute WM-Beiträge drinnen sein werden und c) ein neues Magazin mit Teams, die sich erst zusammenraufen müssen... bin gespannt, wie lange das dauern wird, bis das auch nur annähernd die Qualität des WarMags erreicht.

sehe das ähnlich - ich möchte zwar nicht urteilen, bevor es geschehen ist, habe aber trotzdem starke zweifel, ob diese entscheidung sinn macht. schade - ich konnte dem konzept der eigenständigen magazine viel abgewinnen - Athelstan´s aufschlüsselung hinsichtlich der platzverteilung des neuen magazins ist sicher nicht weit von der wahrheit entfernt, somit werden alle interessierte mehr zahlen und für ihr geld weniger bekommen (da kaum jemand ernsthaft an mehr als einem der nebensysteme interessiert ist). angeblich soll der content etwas später als gratis-download auf der fanatic-homepage zu bekommen sein, aber das ist für mich nur ein schwacher trost.

In der GW WM Discussion group hat jetzt Hr Priestley persönlich zu diesem Thema Stellung genommen. Ich möchte euch das nicht vorenthalten (ungekürzt, aber Vorsicht, lang...):

I have a day off from work today - so I'm writing this from home and
don't have access to my usual e-mail - but I thought I'd drop a note
to add to the traffic about the new Fanatic mag. It would have been
nice to have had the opportunity to post this before the idea became
public knowledge - but there you go.

When Jervis came to tell me he wanted to combine all the specialist
games mags into a single White Dwarf quality publication I was
sceptical to put it mildly. Quite rightly too. WarMag has actually
managed to come out bi-monthly (the other mags are every quarter)
with 48 pages (the others are somewhat less) and has maintained a
very respectable quality of content IMO. This is largely thanks to
the efforts of some very able contributors - most of whom are also
members of this list.

Sales of WarMag have always been healthy and stable - but never
quite enough to justify including extra colour pages or going
monthly. The most frustrating problem has always been the route to
market - as testified by frequent posts on this group. I've always
felt that the magazine was let down by poor availability. The ideal
is that every GW stockist has stock of each of the current
specialist games mags, displayed clearly, updated as new issues
become available. Well it doesn't happen - not even in GW shops -
and you can see why. The staff get confused about which issue is
which, they plainly can't distinguish the speciality mags from Black
Library products (don't ask me why... they always jumble them up),
they don't know when the next issue is coming, and so on...

So - we have two possible futures. In the first we bump along as we
are, resigned to the fact that we have the magazine that we have -
and nothing wrong with that - but with no obvious potential for
improvement. Or we go for a combined mag with the same kind of
visibility and quality as White Dwarf. When I say 'quality' I mean
shiny and with proper magazine layout. I don't mean to imply that
our new magazine should have a 'WD-like' character or manner, or a
WD style or approach.

The advantages are fairly obvious - we get full colour quality
reprographics. The higher print-run will cover increased costs - so
we will get more for our money. Our editors will form a mutually
supportive team instead of one man having to deal singlehandedly
with 2 entire magazines through thick and thin (Steve used to handle
both WarMag and Town Cryer). This should allow Jervis and his crew
to produce a much more professional magazine - good enough to stand
beside WD - theoretically good enough for mass distribution should
our sales businesses decide to go that route (e.g WH Smiths in the
UK). So - what I'm describing is something WD sized or thereabouts -
dedicated entirely to specialist games and gaming. It should be easy
to supply - easy to tell which is the latest issue - and it should
go beside WD as it will be regular magazine sized.

And the disadvantages are... it's going to be difficult. I keep
telling the guys how hard it's going to be to maintain quality,
production standards, content, photos, etc... but they seem
determined not to be put off. Difficulty aside - I feel that it's
important that Warmaster is well represented - specifically that
over a year we have at least as much Warmaster content as we would
have had with the current WarMag. Indeed this was my chief concern -
and I have given the project my blessing on this very condition -
namely Jervis has assured me that our new magazine will - over a
year - have at least as much Warmaster content as before. On that
basis - and strictly on that basis - I'm wholeheartedly behind a
combined mag.

It does astonish me that someone didn't take the trouble to write to
all of our regular contributors and explain what the plan was, and
how much it depends upon their support, how appreciated that support
has been to date, and so forth. Because - like I keep saying - this
is going to be difficult enough anyway and there's nothing so
reassuring as a stack of new contributions from good writers and
painters who know their stuff. I don't know why that didn't happen -
but let's just put it down to confusion and some poor communication
between UK MO and the specialist games team. That the first a
regular contributor should hear of this change is via a letter from
UK mail order is shameful - good job I'm at home really as I can
have a good shout at the cat - anyway I'd like to apologise to all
of our contributors that this has happened.

One more point that hasn't been covered - though the plan is to
launch as a bi-monthly mag the new magazine is visualised as monthly
just like WD. However it will take a few months to get sufficiently
ahead to be able to have a monthly release. This delay is to enable
the team to get a 3 month gap between production and release so the
magazine can come out simultaneously in the USA and UK... and yes...
Australia too I believe.

I'd also like to iterate Tom's point about publishing the Warmaster
content on the web site - the specialist games team is planning on
putting all the Warmaster content from the magazine onto the GW
Warmaster site as soon after the magazine is published as
practically possible. It's certainly a very bold decision - but
there you go - in effect that's the old WarMag content free over the
net in monthly chunks.

So - is it a good thing? - it can be if done properly and I'm
prepared to give it every encouragement and as much help as I can
muster. I'm also prepared to critise and jump up and down excidedly
if I feel that the committment to support Warmaster is being
compromised. I can't 'make' anyone do anything you understand - in
the heirarchy of Games Workshop I have long since been bundled off
to the House of Lords - but I can be damned annoying - or so I'm
told:)

naja früher (also sagen wir voriges jahr) hätte ich es begrüßt war ich doch noch relativ dick in bfg, warmaster und mortheim. da hat es mich eher aufgeregt für jedes system ein einzelnes heft zu kaufen.

aber eines stimmt auf alle fälle, die nebensysteme sind einfach zum teil nicht präsent genug, falls vorhanden verlieren sie sich nebn den hauptsystemen, sie haben keine schönen verpackungen (okay bfg und mortheim zum teil) etc. ist einfach eine optische frage und eine frage der präsentz. aber bei warmaster etwa hieß es dann wieder lange das kann gar nicht geliefert werden, dann ist mal was wieder nur mailorder-bestell-möglich.
das alles hält den wahren fan nicht ab aber an die masse komsmt so nur schwer.
