Über mehrere Umwege hierher, eine kleine FAQ von Tim Huckleberry von GW US zum Thema Unterschiede zwischen dem Solo Rulebook und der Box für die 4. Edition.
1) The upgraded version of 40K is a book, not a boxed set. If you play 40K now, this is what you'll be interested in. There is no big box game (like the current one) for the updated edition.
2) The starter game called "Battle for Macragge" isn't aimed at current players - it's aimed at people who have never played 40K or any miniatures games at all. The rules inside are the _same_ rules as in the Rulebook in item #1 above. It's not a "simplified 40k" rules set. This is what we had on display at Games Day Baltimore and will also have at Games Day Chicago. There is indeed hobby stuff inside, especially on how to paint the models included. The missions all revolve around the models and terrain included as well.
3) Since this is a starter game, the models inside are easy to assemble. The models in the current 40k box game now are great, but not for beginners! These new models look just as killer as the multi-part models once completed; they are totally identical. I've been lucky enough to paint up some and they are great. These _in no way_ replace the multi-part models out now. The Space Marine Tactical Squad box set isn't going away because of the new marines in the starter set. We're doing starter models for starter sets, nothing more.
d) The Rulebook has all the rules (duh) plus another 200 or so pages of advanced rules (very very advanced actually), more missions (each mission also has 3 difficulty levels for expanded play), more hobby material, and other fun stuff. It will be a hardback.
5) The wrecked (made so by applying a hammer to the shuttle, honestly) shuttle will indeed be sold unwrecked by Forge World later in the year. The plastic wrecked shuttle though, like all the contents of the Battle for Macragge game, won't be sold separately.
Anyone coming to Games Day Chicago can check it all out; we'll have everything on display there. Say hi if you do!
Hope this helps, -Tim
