Chaos Approaches Posted April 9, 2002 by Pete Closs
More Chaos rumours to tide you over until the dark hordes burst forth from the tainted north once more to terrorise the Old World and beyond.
Another source has confirmed that Dragon Ogres and Trolls are absent from the Hordes of Chaos book, but they'll apparently be included in the Beastmen book that's due out later.
I'm also told that Chaos Knights come with Heavy Armour, Shields, Barded Chaos Steeds and Lances (contradicting the previous rumour that they won't get them, but I suspect they will thinking about it).
Upgrading a unit to Chosen Knights/Warriors costs a hefty + 14 points per model, though a 1+ save and +1A is very nice indeed.
Apprently, Chaos Marks now do different things depending on who they are given to (and cost a different amount of points to go with this). For example, a Mark of Tzeentch for a Chaos Lord (because the Mark of Tzeentch can't be given to regular sorcerers), gives the Chaos Lord the full abilities of a level 4 wizard who can choose spells from the Tzeentch spell list.
Entire units (and Chariots) can be given the Mark of Khorne. So, as my source pointed out, you can take a unit of Chaos Knights, upgrade them to Chosen Knights and then for a flat points cost of 30 points regardless of unit size, give them the mark of Khorne for Frenzy. And maybe a magic banner, depending on how beardy you're feeling.
Furies are a new daemon for Chaos Undivided and they basically sound like replacements for Harpies.
Apparently, no daemon unit except for Bloodletters can take a command group anymore.
Apart from Archaon there will be a Chaos Dragon as a special character. This dragon is unridden and daemonic, a former High Elf Dragon corrupted by a powerful Tzeentch sorcerer during a nasty battle.
