Two newsletters in one week? Oh yes. The Forge World Design Studio is the busiest I?ve seen it and the new models just keep coming!
Today, Warwick has some new rules for the Thunderhawk Transporter for us and Mark Bedford has made a downed 40K Valkyrie scenery piece.
But the headline news in this issue of the Forge World Newsletter is the completion of three new Tau Crisis Battlesuits.
Daren Parrwood has been working on these new Tau models for the past two months. They are mainly meant for use as either a Shas?el or Shas?o, (Tau Commander in a Battlesuit to you and me), and will feature in the forthcoming ?Imperial Armour Volume 3 ? The Taros Campaign?, but can easily be used as different variants of Tau Battlesuits too.
Fancy a look? First up is the XV89, forgeworld.co.uk/xv89.htm The XV89 is upgraded with additional armour plating which increases it?s saving throw in games of 40K and gives it a much heavier look when compared to the standard XV8.
Next, we have the XV84 which is equipped with a combination Markerlight and Target Lock built into the elongated spine on the back of the model. forgeworld.co.uk/xv84.htm
Finally, and my favourite of the bunch, is the XV81. This little beauty comes equipped with a Smart Missile system and a hard-wired Multi-Tracker! forgeworld.co.uk/xv81.htm I think that looks really cool and just glancing at the rules for what these three Battlesuits could get up to on the battlefield makes me starting a Tau army a distinct possibility.
All three of these new Tau Battlesuits will be available as complete multi-part resin and plastic kits. Included in each kit will be a plastic Crisis Battlesuit sprue and the separate resin components for each kit, including one of each standard Battlesuit weapon which allows a broad range of weapons loadouts to be made.
The arms and legs are multi-part and this means that these Battlesuits are very, very poseable! The design of the lower leg armour supports the ankles too, making for a robust model.
