X-Files 2

Q: Is the storyline you talked about last year still the same? It won't involve aliens or a science fiction element and have more of a horror element?

David Duchovny: Not a horror film when compared to today's standards like Saw and Hostel but more of a supernatural thriller.

Q: Who is all returning for the film?

DD: The story will revolve around Gillian's character, Dana Scully, and my character, Fox Mulder.

Q: Are they going to address the time issue, the space between each film? Are they still in the FBI?

DD: There is no script completed, they are still developing the entire story.

Carter told fans that they will learn a bit about what happened to William, the baby of Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson), who was given up for adoption in the show's ninth and final season. "It will not go unconsidered in the movie," he said.

Carter also revealed why the sequel still does not have a title. "I can't tell you [what it is]," Carter said in response to a question. "Because I don't know, really. I know what I want it to be, but Fox has ideas of their own. And I know what it should be."

Spotnitz said that the movie will pick up the story of Mulder and Scully six years after the events in the show's finale, which aired in 2002. "In the movie, we wanted it to work for non-fans as well as fans," partner Frank Spotnitz said. "But we were determined for the fans to honor all the work that these guys did on the series and all the love that people had for the show over the years. And so I think you'll see that, while this is not a mythology movie, it's true to everything that's come before. It's true to Mulder and Scully, who they are, where they would be at this point in their lives and all of the experiences that they've had."

20th Century Fox spokesman also revealed that the trailer for the movie will appear in front of "Iron Man" on May 2nd. It will become available online soon after.

angeblicher Plot:

SPOILER

Here is how the "X-Files: I Want to Believe" novelization, by Max Allan Collins, describes the plot: "When a group of women are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia, the only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead, a disgraced priest's questionable "visions" send local police on a wild goose chase and straight to a bizarre secret medical experiment that may or may not be connected to the women's disappearance. It's a case right out of The X-Files. But the FBI closed down its investigations into the paranormal years ago. And the best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dr. Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere... and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it!"
