My club will hold its annual 40k event on the 31st of january and 1st of february.
First draft of the rulespack includes :
-2100 pts roster size (we like it big)
-One special character per army (including Avatar)
-no triple choices in Elite, Fast attack and Heavy Support, plus the organisers retain the right to refuse lists (we like to play smart before tough)
-soft scores included in the final ranking (a bit of painting scores and composition)
-5 games, 3 on the saturday
-we will play our famous army swap scenario, where you play your opponents army. This happens on round 4 (sunday morning), so that the players can get acquainted with their "army for a game" and usually their opponent too during the saturday evening banquet when we publish the pairing for the morrow
-so far in the previous editions we have succeeded in obtaining a competitive AND friendly atmosphere. Last year we were blessed by the visit of two foreigners from the English 2007 ETC team (Anathema & Gus), and for this year a Russian is already in the ranks, please dont let Russia invade all europe and come help us defend our territory.
-to cover language issues, we will have a 40k english-french dictionnary at your disposal, but so far the french meeting foreigners have always been glad to and made the required efforts to spend an enjoyable game in the universal 40k tongue we all speak :d Both referees will have attended the UK heat 3 this year so they probably will be able to understand you...and of course I won't be too far off in case you really need help (i'll be playing myself)
-be advised that our club is located in a wine regions, and it is our custom to bless each and every attendee with a wine bottle as a souvenir, just hope you can handle it Wink
-to get a feel for the atmosphere, look here a photo coverage by GW back to when they had a proper events team in France : fr.games-workshop.com/communau…/ecuisses_01_07/index.asp
-travel directions are to googlemap "Ecuisses France", for the accomodation there is a "Formule 1" hotel nearby where you can book a 3 men room (double bed + one) for 30ish euros; there is a tgv station also 5mn away, putting us just 1h20 mn in train from paris, or 40mn from Lyon (2 major airports where some low cost airlines operate). But of course if you are interested, i'll be your privat travel agent to help you sort things out Wink
-last year our tournament was registered here : tabletoptournaments.net/t3_tournament.php?tid=2483 , and we will register the tournament on t3 this year too, i'll keep you posted on this...this is where the players have to register to satisfy one of the registration criteria (the main one being to send over the damn cash of course). When we open registration it should fill up pretty fast so DO signal your interest asap, registration will begin in early november.
All this is of course an excuse to get to see you guys again before Munster, hope some of you will make it
GW-Regeln sind nicht immer gerecht, dafür aber meist schlecht gebalanced.
