Deep Runners 7 - 0 Crusader Crushers
You may call this game Guerilla vs. Punisher. The Runner's coach sucked the team up with 2 cards at the start of his first 2 rushes and acted with deadly precision when rushing through the dwarfs and scoring 2 times for 3 points. The Crushers punished the scoring strikers 2 times...to the graveyard. A failed slam and successful stealing action later, the Runners scored the last point for the final result.

You're right, nearly 50% of the games ended with a landslide win...but why is this so?

a) because there is an unbalanced system
b) because some players recognised how to play their teams and others don't (this is not an offence: It's a learning curve!)
c) dices

c): Dices are bitches and if you fail most of the throws you're out. This can happen to both coaches

a): There is a main problem in the system: Jacks are not useful. They are useless. They don't have any special abilities or bonuses when acting and when your team depends on Jacks this really sucks (aside the action card "Running Interference"). I realised that they're discussions about that when you have a team with Jacks then they are just a "fill up" before you can buy real players. Thats a pitty. But please remember that this is the first league without any special things like coaches or cheerleaders etc., we can add anything in the second league. Especially the rule for Jacks: "Jacks can use every action card" (if the card is for Striker or Guard...they can use it).
I remember a quote from the official forum where a guy said: "Jacks are useless...pick a team without Jacks. The other players have their roles and advantages. Avoid teams with Jacks." I think, without additional changes (house rules) he's 80% right. But it's a Mantic made problem. BUT you can even win with this kind of teams, what brings me to the next point.....
b): During the games I realized that some players checked really fast how to play their teams in ensemble acting with the rules vs some special kind of opponent. Even I was a victim of this and it's the "way" you learn the game. Let's face it, some players are better then others and I think I'm in the middle. Then there's kicking in the dicing factor. But you have to know why you lost the game...because of your failures or 'cause of the dices. Let's take a look:
- Game Deep Runners vs Crusader Crushers: Why moving the striker back in his first rush? Just to support the others to smash one guy? Okay, the guy was dead in the end, but the frontline lacked one player know. Later he burned all of his coaching dices for a dodge. The human player still had 2 actions left with a striker in range. Imagine a second guy to cover the ball carrier.... but this are all decicions of the coaches managing their teams. I really saw a chance for the Crusader Crushers. But the point ist: They are teams which "execuse" some tactical mistakes and others don't. The Dwarfs don't and so he lost. Because he did 2 of them and the dices were not in his favour. - I'm playing a lot vs my wife. 2 times with the Orx vs Nameless. She played Nameless and beat me 2 times. 1 time with landlside. Why... I build up a cage and she just jumped in with an sticky guard ... the hard guards maked short work of my guys..... What an idiotic tactic from me to concentrate the players around the carrier. Next game: I lost, but only 0-1 and because of the dices. My last 2 point strike throw with 2 dices failed. Yes, I changed my tactic...streched my game overall.
- So, if you're specialised with a Jacks team.... play perfect and have luck with the dices. Then you'll win with a landslide
- Play the normal way and know your team perfect. You will get a draw or a short defeat.

Well. it's just a theme of playing your team in the best way they should and be lucky with the dices. A sports game! And don't play it to win, because you'll not. And yes, I say some of you (especially me!) don't get the best out of their teams. And this is the learning curve of Dreadball. It's normal. It's the game. And the winner gets in the beers!

ps:
In the second league I consider the following changes:
- 1d per game for revenue (even if you lost via LS)
- Coaches & Cheerleaders
- every card can be used by a Jack
- (MVP considering on the players)
