As ever, just as the rumour well seemed dry a new flood of rumours comes to fill it up. Yes, I've got some new Necron rumour goodness for you, and while it's all very unconfirmed (i.e. I've only heard of all this from one source so far) it makes interesting reading and Necron players can only hope that even half of its true, because the Necrons sound pretty mean.

You'll already have heard of the new Necron units but probably nothing of what they can do. Wraiths are a fast attack close combat unit that is able to phase through terrain, armour and even bullets (presumably meaning they get at least a semi-decent save). The mighty Pariahs have both strength and toughness 5, a 3+ save and are immune to psychic powers. They also carry Gauss Blasters and Phase Blades that of course ignore armour and even invulnerable saves.

The Monlith, which you've probably already heard about, is apparently the only tank the Necrons will be getting in the codex (though it wouldn't surprise me if the guys at Forge World knocked up some more cool vehicles for them). The Monlith will come with a 6 shot Ion Cannon and an ordinance weapon of some sort. Most interestingly it can teleport nearby units towards itself making it a rather unique transpor vehicle of sorts.

My source made the first mention I've heard of a Necron "Spider", apparently a weaponless heavy support choice that can build Scarabs and repair nearby units.

Of course, what you're really interested in is the C'Tan, and my source came through on that aspect of things too. They are a race of
'Star Vampires', created at the dawn of the universe. They were non-sentient until the Necrontyr (who had been fighting and loosing a war against the Old Ones) 'Awakend' them (starting with the Nightbringer). The C'Tan subsequently decided that, as my source put it "sentient minds taste better than the chaos of energy in the stars". The Necrontyr worshiped them as Gods, while the C'Tan basicaly went round destroying anything they came across until the Old Ones intervined by giving the races the 'gift' of psykers, and tore holes into warpspace while doing this. The C'Tan turned on each other, until there wre only 4 left. These four went into hiding after convincing the Necrontyr to abandon their fleshy bodies for thier machine forms as Necrons.

Nightbringer is effectivly armed with a lascannon and a 'Gaze of Death' - instead of using him to fight in combat you simple place an ordinance template over him and every model touching him suffers a wound on a 4+. He can also create a small tournado which forced enemies within 12" to retreat 2D6" away from him.

Trickster is apparently particularly vicious although my source mad eno mention of his rules. Little mention is made of the other two C'Tan. One is called the Outsider, and even the other C'Tan fear him. An Eldar Fleet apparently encountered him once and only one
person survived, and he had gone mad. It is hinted that the last one is hiding somewhere.

I've been sent a few rumours about this now but it still sounds like a strange 40K conspiracy theory. Nonetheless, rumour is that the "fourth" C'Tan is hiding on Mars. Now, when you think about who are based on Mars (the Adeptus Mechanicus) and who they worship alongside the Emperor (The Machine God)... well, I'm sure you can put two and two together. By no means confirmed but it'd certainly be interesting if it turned out to be true.

    zitat:

enemies within 12" to retreat 2D6" away from him.
