Good news people/ bad news.
Firstly the manager of my local GW recieved the Cadian heavy weapon teams on thursday from his advance orders.
I went in today and watched him make them, and I looked at the sprews as well. We got talking (he's the only one who likes cadians more than me) and he told me some bad news.
The boxes are ?20.
Now I know it's cheaper and better than before, but even so, ?20 for three plastic heavy weapons?!?
I mean, you only get...
3 of every haavy weapon,
3 mortar stands
3 tripods
6 crew heads bodies and legs
many asccessories (e.g lasguns, sandbags etc)
3 arms holding a mortar missile
3 arms holding rockets
3 arms holding a rocket launcher
3 sets of gunner arms
3 sets of arms pionting/holding scopes.
But, looking at the sprues, I quickly realised a cool Idea that you could use... And so did the manager, as by the time I came bck from lunch he had already done it.
You get 6 crewmen parts, ok. Now, say if you had a few spare cadian parts, you could start to convert a few of the crewmen ect and heres what you can do with the complete box set (and a little imagination.
3 of any type of gun, e.g autocannon/heavy bolter/lascannon
You do this as normal, except replacing say... three of the crouching ones with standing cadians from the cadain boxed sets, obviously mixing and matching arms.
3 mortars
the three original crouching guardsmen you replaced for the support weapons, you use here, using the mortar crews arms, then use three normal cadians, with the ascessories on the sprue, lke scopes and re-loads etc.
3 missile launchers; simply have both of the cadians standing up, one holdin a rocket and pointing, whilst the other holds the launcher and aims.
Every cloud does have a silver lining, and heavy weapon boxes justgot a little more appealing. (all you need is 9 spare guardsmen.)
